SACTA actively advocates for Clinical Technologists, engages with key healthcare stakeholders, and drives initiatives that strengthen the profession. Through education, policy involvement, and collaboration, we ensure our members are supported, recognized, and equipped to deliver high-quality care nationwide.

Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement

SACTA has actively engaged with key healthcare funders, including GEMS and Medscheme, to address operational matters affecting Clinical Technologists in private practice. These ongoing discussions ensure our members remain informed, included in preferred provider networks, and equipped to deliver optimal patient care.

We have also initiated discussions with Discovery Health to develop comprehensive billing guidelines for all categories of Clinical Technologists, promoting transparency and reducing risks of fraud or unnecessary red-flagging.

National Health Initiatives

SACTA participated in the National Health Insurance (NHI) stakeholder engagements in 2023 and 2024, invited by the Office of the President, allowing members to contribute to policy discussions and voice concerns. We continue to collaborate with the Department of Health to ensure the profession’s interests are represented.

Regulatory & Professional Influence

As a recognised stakeholder, SACTA actively participates in forums of the HPCSA Board for Radiography and Clinical Technology, influencing policy, regulatory frameworks, and legislation. Notably, we contributed to the revision of the Clinical Technologists’ scope of practice (2021–2022).

Supporting Members & CPD

SACTA maintains Task Teams for each Clinical Technology discipline to assist members and address external matters. We operate a daily administration portal to manage queries efficiently and are an accredited provider of CPD points, supporting events that keep members up to date with clinical and technological advancements.

Presidential Health Summit Participation

The SACTA EXCO attended the 2nd Presidential Health Summit 2023, demonstrating our commitment to national healthcare engagement.
